Step 1: Apply for BankID

This should be your top priority. BankID is Sweden’s essential e-identification system, used for almost all online services, from banking and healthcare to signing contracts.

1. First, you must open an account at a major Swedish bank.
2. Visit the bank branch in person with your passport and proof of your new Personnummer.
3. The bank staff will help you set up BankID.
4. Download the BankID mobile app and follow the instructions to activate it.

Step 2: Open a Swedish Bank Account

A bank account is fundamental for receiving a salary, paying bills, and daily transactions. With a Personnummer, this process is much simpler.
